FAQ’s – A Dancer’s Live-It

So I wouldn’t call these “frequently asked” questions, but these are occasional things I’m asked when people first hear about my blog.

So maybe OAQ’s….?

What’s your blog about?
My blog started out as a way for me to talk about the foods I eat and recipes I enjoy. I believe that you shouldn’t have to “die” in order to enjoy your food (“DIE-t”); healthy eating is a lifestyle choice (“LIVE-it”). I think it’s turned into a place where I not only advocate for a “live-it” in my writing and posts, but also a place where I share my occasional oatmeal recipes, eating disorder recovery moments, and wellness tips I stumble upon. I would categorize it as a health/wellness blog!

What the heck is a “live-it”?!
Please refer to the question above for the short version or, for the full version, refer to my “What’s A Live-It” page.

Why do you like oatmeal so much?
I discovered real oatmeal about 2 years ago after I decided I was tired of those gross instant oatmeal packets. You can read more about why I love it so much HERE! There’s soooo much more than brown sugar and raisins…

How do you make your recipes?
I wrote about this in a post, but I honestly just go with what I know or I improvise! The kitchen was made for experimentation, people! I recommend reading the post though, it explains a lot more detail.

What are the staple ingredients I need to make your recipes?
Check out my post about making time for a good breakfast! You’ll find everything you need there!

Where do you get your other recipes?
Refer to “The Blogs I Love” page and click on The Oatmeal Artist and The Breakfast Drama Queen.

How do you motivate yourself to exercise in the morning?
Honestly, I just think of it as part of my day. When you make time for exercising, it just becomes a habit. I like exercising in the morning because it’s over and done with before you drink your first cup of coffee! I don’t have energy at the end of the day to do it, (because I dance all day long) and I certainly don’t have time in the middle of the day either. Are there days where I don’t feel like exercising in the morning? Of course! I’m human aren’t I?! On those days, I listen to my body and take it easier. There’s no reason to feel bad about it! Choosing to exercise in the morning isn’t for everyone, but it wakes me up, relieves some stress, and makes me feel better before classes!

Why does your Instagram  mostly contain pictures of your breakfast/other food?
What can I say, I LOVE oatmeal and making my food look pretty! I don’t do it for the attention, I love taking pictures of my breakfast (or any food) and making other people see that oatmeal doesn’t have to be mushy, bland, or boring. It’s pretty fantastic! Also, I love trying new foods and going out to eat, so I always take pictures of my meals because presentation is EVERYTHING.

How long have you had your blog?
My blog was born on July 21st, 2014.

Do you really eat oatmeal for breakfast EVERY morning?
Basically! Sometimes on Saturdays in the form of protein pancakes! Oats are so versatile, I don’t think many people realize that.
