Good morning everyone!! Happy last day of May, WHAT?!
I hope your day is off to a great start.
I thought I’d pop in to catch up quickly about the weekend and share what we did!
I know I’m a day late, but let’s just take a minute to remember the men and women who served bravely for our freedom. It’s such an honorable choice to want to serve our country and I commend everyone who has ever made that decision.
Speaking of which, shout out to my cousin who’s attending West Point next month!! So proud of him.
Alright, so my weekend at home was AMAZING. Wow, you truly don’t appreciate home until you’ve been away from it for like 5 MONTHS. The smells, the sounds, the familiarity, the company…it was much needed.
- Friday – A local food, wine, and vendor festival….at the ZOO! Soooo much fun. That should totally be more of a reoccurring thing. See the giraffes in the background? I’m convinced they would be posh British gentlemen or ladies if they could talk.
- Saturday – Laying out by Cal’s pool all day, and then something I’ve been planning for a few weeks now….another food and cocktail-pairing party!! We like to be fancy every now and then.
Remember when I did that for New Year’s Eve too? It was a total blast and I wanna do another one as soon as possible!
Here was our menu:
Here are the recipes!
Round 1:
- Romaine Boats (which were supposed to be endives but Wegs didn’t have them)
- Grapefruit Blossom Aperitif
Round 2:
- Zucchini “Pizzas”
- Moscow Mules (from my girl Lee at Fit Foodie Finds!)
Round 3:
- Chicken Skewers
- White Peach Sangria
- Potato and Green Bean Salad – Grandma’s recipe!
- Green Salad – just your basic side salad!
Round 4:
- Ice Cream Pie – we used this crust recipe and Cherry Panda Paws Ice Cream as the filling. SO DARN GOOD.
Check out our fancy bar area.?
Un-pictured: ALL THE FOOD.
Sorry guys, I’m literally the worst. I totally forgot!!! The next one will have tons of pictures, promise! Who wants in??
- Sunday – Church with the fam and my grandma and then going to see some other family afterwards. It’s so nice to be back in the suburbs for a bit. It’s also funny how your brain never forgets how to drive a car! I also watched the movies “Remember” and “Deadpool“. I HIGHLY recommend “Remember” if you’re into deep and interesting storylines and excellent acting. Christopher Plummer is still going strong!! “Deadpool” was funny, but if you don’t like stupid humor then I don’t recommend it.
- Monday – Yay for Memorial Day! After saying goodbye to Cal in the morning, I spent the whole afternoon with my cousin Adriana. We went to the village and grabbed lunch at Panera (I missed you), walked around the local park for a bit, and ended up running right into the town’s annual Memorial Day Parade. It was an absolutely lovely day and I’m so happy I got to see her!
Don’t we look alike?! We used to pretend we were sisters when we were younger, even though she basically is my sister.❤
So that means we’re all caught up! Today I head back to the city because of my class, but I’ll be back home again soon. So pumped!
God I missed it.
I hope you all have a lovely rest of your Tuesday! Remember to be kind to yourself and BE WELL.❤
Now tell me….
- Do you have a certain family member/relative you were always super close with?
